Nature is calling and on November 11th, you’ll have the option to choose between a free park entrance to the Lassen Volcanic National Park or Whiskeytown National Recreation Area! Both are conveniently located less than an hour from Redding and each park offers a unique selection of things to do. If you’re into challenging mountain hikes, bubbling sulfur pits, tall evergreens, and volcanoes then head east to Lassen Volcanic National Park. If something close to town with short hikes to waterfalls and rugged bike trails is more your style, then head west to Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. Over 2 million lights await you across ten cultivated acres at the Redding Garden of Lights at Turtle Bay Exploration Park in the McConnell Botanical Gardens. Starting on November 22nd, you can come see the Redding night sky light up with hundreds of brightly illuminated trees and attractions, glowing merrily in all their holiday glory. Dance along with the festive music that plays in sync with the lights, eat s’mores and sip hot cocoa, apple cider and other beverages while you stay toasty warm by the fire pits.
