Fishing For Every Season

No matter when your next Redding getaway will be, you’ll be able to hook something! Not only is Redding a great base camp for fishing adventures throughout far northern California, you can find a great walk-in access and a world-class riffle 5 minutes from your hotel room.

Year Round: Redding-area lakes are open for bass fishing any day of the year, as is the Upper Sacramento and Pit River for rainbows, the Lower Sac (rainbows and steelhead), and the Trinity River (steelhead).

April – November: Gotta love fishing season! Anytime between the last Saturday in April and November 15th head to the McCloud River or Hat Creek for rainbows and browns, Fall River for rainbows, and Battle Creek for rainbows and steelhead.

May-November: For warm-weather catches, spend the day on the Upper Sacramento, Pit River, or fly fish on the Trinity River below the Lewiston Dam.

September – March: The Trinity River, with its steelhead and the occasional brown, can be your winter fishing home. Dress warmly and enjoy the view!
