The famous waters of the Upper Sac begin below Lake Siskiyou near the city of Mt. Shasta. They make their way 40 miles south, through Shasta-Trinity National Forest, to join Lake Shasta. The Upper Sac, while known one of the best 'roadside' fisheries in the West, is only lightly fished, and is open all year for catching rainbows with peak seasons of May-November.
